FGI Dallas 2024 - 2nd Place Active/Resort/Lounge Category

Apparel product and digital entries submitted to the 56th annual Fashion Group International Dallas Scholarship competition in April, 2024. For this competition I submitted 3 ensembles for consideration to FGI as well as a Digital Fashion Portfolio Submission. These garments and portfolio are apart of my senior capstone collection entitled Clementine, a feminine streetwear collection inspired by a capsule wardrobe without sacrificing a sense of whimsy and vibrancy. Resort Entry placed 2nd in its respective category in this regional competition.

I am thrilled to share that I placed 2nd with the ensemble entered into the Active/Resort/ Loungewear Category of the competition! It is such a rewarding process to see your vision come to life and be well received. More information on this winning entry is below.

Excerpt taken from Fashion Group International submission paperwork - This entry is a three-piece ensemble featuring; a digitally printed tie-back halter dress, a pair of light wash skinny jeans with a raw hem, and grommet detailing paired with an asymmetrical ruffle ultra-cropped button-down shirt and a matching string bikini top. The intention within this look is to be a look able to be mixed and matched within itself for various day-to-day and resort activities. Each garment serves a collection look or an individual piece within a traveling wardrobe. The print design was created, through digital printing. The textile I selected has additional benefits including; a layer of UV protectant, and the print is colorfast to UV exposure, chlorine, and salt water, making it ideal for the resort and ready-to-wear setting. The original resources for this print were my original photographs, which were then manipulated, into the melting kaleidoscopic print. The print was digitally created, using my Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator skillset.

This look is part of a women’s ready-to-wear collection prioritizing a consumer and styling-centric design view. Created for the Gen-Z to Millennial, urban-based women consumer, seeking a “statement-wear” capsule ideal-infused wardrobe. This idea is further developed in the concept, of this line branching into resort wear, as a capsule wardrobe should be versatile enough for any occasion or travel that may arise. This look encompasses the ideals of this vibrant capsule collection. The garments within the look are capable of mixed and matched, providing additional options for wearability, styling, and versatility. For this design, I pursued market research and pulled inspiration from two primary trends; Hello Editorial and Something Citrus. Hello Editorial, this trend prioritizes the mixing of prints, colors, and textures as derived from recent sitings in European streetwear. Something Citrus; a trend that showcases the rise of bright bold and rather tart hues within the couture and ready-to-wear industries.
