"Amare" FGI Dallas Bridal Garment Design | Spring 2023

Apparel Product Development coursework: representing interpretation of current and upcoming bridal trends. This design is an elegant four piece contemporary bridal ensemble blending well loved and contemporary elements. This design received third place in the 55th annual Fashion Group International Dallas Scholarship competition in April, 2023.

When beginning this project with a trend analysis, we we're tasked with identifying our target marketing and analyzing trends these consumers may shop from. For these trends I pulled much inspiration from the growing coquette, soft girl, and ultra femme aesthetics that present a fun feminine way of dressing that also feels refined and nostalgic. This trend relies heavily on a variety of textures while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of fluidity in a bridal gown.

This project consisted of an elegant four piece contemporary bridal ensemble blending well loved and contemporary elements. This ensemble features a; lined satin and lace adjustable bralette, backless bodice featuring glass hand-beaded maxi crinkled chiffon sleeves, a tulle drop veil, and a covered button adorned scalloped bridal skirt with cathedral train.

For this design I wanted to create a bridal ensemble that blends traditional bridal elements with modern and contemporary features. The trends I pulled inspiration from are the growing coquette, soft girl, and ultra femme aesthetics that are quickly growing in popularity with Gen-Z consumers. These trends present a blending of old and new to create a modern and nostalgic way of dressing. For the traditional elements in this ensemble I wanted to lean towards features and details that add a whimsical yet nostalgic touch to the design; a cathedral train, covered buttons cascading down the center back seam, a drop veil, and the usage of satin as my fabric finish of choice. The more contemporary/ innovative features on this ensemble include; maxi length sleeves, glass hand-beading, bridal separates, cropped styles and a lace bralette features and the blending of intimate and bridal wear. This project was completed in the Spring of 2023, in coordination with my course, Apparel Product Development.

The gallery below features images of the Bridal ensemble captured by myself in a local studio space. In addition to this garment as finalists in the competition we were tasked with creating a brief self-filmed video sharing our project inspiration and process.
